Crash Tag Team Racing

WORDS BY: Thomas Baxter

The Mario Kart franchise may be leading the fi eld of cartoonish racers, but Crash Tag Team Racing shows that the famous bandicoot isn’t about to be pushed off the track so easily. CTTR has all the standards of the genre – throwing objects, shortcuts, and speed bursts – but there’s a reason they call it Tag Team Racing: the new Crash Mode.

This innovative competition allows you to merge your car with one of your opponents’ vehicles, creating a sort of superkart where one of you drives and the other mans the turret, blasting away at racers. With 24 unlockable karts, a lot of variety and fun arises out of the different combos you can create. CTTR also serves up the usual karting modes, as well as mini-games spread throughout Von Clutch’s Motor World, where you’ll spend your time on 15 tracks battling Dr. Cortex. If you’re playing solo, it all gets too repetitive too fast, but in multiplayer, merging karts and occasionally stabbing your buddies in the back makes for some good times.

  • Merging karts and blasting away friends in Crash Mode.
  • Cool movie gallery.
  • It could bring a whole new edge to the game if it had an online mode.
  • What on Earth is a kart game going without turbo?
