Well, personally, we'd love to see some blood spill, so we're tempted to say you should just buy the "Carmine Mu...MORE

"Something really irks me about people who own a major console and buy maybe a few big-name games a year and that's IT...then call themselves serious gamers. "

This Week In Xbox — 1/23

WORDS BY: Taylor Cocke

Bring Down The Price

Gamestop has listed a 2-disc rerelease of Mass Effect that includes the full game, various extras, as well as the Bring Down The Sky DLC, all for a measly 20 bucks. The game is listed to be shipped on February 10th, and will be the newest addition to the Platinum Hits collection.

VERDICT: I can guarantee you won't find a better time-played-to-money-spent ratio than this. If you haven't partaken in Mass Effect, now is the time.

The Price You Pay

Skate 2 has received the cheater's treatment. The "Time Is Money" pack sells for 400 MS and unlocks everything in the game, including "all locations, skaters and gear that can be earned by playing through Skate 2's career and online modes."

VERDICT: Why can't EA just put codes into its games just like everyone else? At least then I can pretend that I don't suck at Skate 2, but not have any evidence to the contrary on my credit card bill.

Yet Again With The Gears

This week, the much-awaited Gears of War 2 title update has been released. The update features more than a couple of fixes and balances for the multiplayer modes, as well as seven new achievements for players to pick up. Just remember to pick up the Combustible map pack, as five of those achievements require it.

VERDICT: Has everyone just given up and moved on to other games?

Double The Ubisoft, Double The Fun

A couple of big announcements concerning upcoming games came out of the Ubisoft offices this week. Team Xbox tells us that Ubisoft Montreal has announced plans to release a sequel to Assassin's Creed, due out in March. Perhaps even more interesting, Joystiq reports, the developing company has put out the call for a lead designer to work on a "cross-platform music based game."

VERDICT: Well, at least I'm stoked for Assassin's Creed 2, but do we really need another music game? Really?

Too Much?

The price for Rockstar's first DLC for Grand Theft Auto IV has been announced: 1600 Microsoft Points. According to GTA Gaming, the DLC will include 10+ hours of play, more new missions, new guns, and a few other nice additions. Is it worth it?

VERDICT: Well, the GTA series does certainly have a good enough following to pull this off, but still. 20 bucks?

COMMENTS:

fallout 3 dlc is tommorow? holy crap, time for some ms points buying.

How typical of EA to charge for the Skate 2 codes.... That Mass Effect deals seems pretty sweet to me though, and I can't wait to see whatever Ubisoft is cooking up next.

You guys aren't gonna mentions tomorrow's Fallout 3 DLC?
Also, you should've mentioned Assassin's Creed 2 was due out in March 2010, I almost freaked out wondering where I'd been, and how could AC2 be released this March? Ha.

Nice deal for Mass Effect.

Epic has no one to blame but themselves for no one caring that they're releasing more DLC for gears 2. How can you make a sequel that takes everything wrong with the first game and make it worse? I am a huge gears fan, but I have finally resigned myself to the fact that online multi-player sucks. Maybe it's time Epic does the same.

Is there any talk or information of the next Call of Duty? Please?

The update is a nice fix, but I'm honestly just looking for Left 4 Dead players. Call of Duty: World at War has started to get old, and the long wait for this fix has made Gears 2 almost forgotten.

I believe your right. I saw the most people on Halo 3 last night. It said like 360,000 people online.

i know why everyone stopped with the gears 2...
