"Why don't I like Fallout 3? I just am not getting into it. I'm about 4 hours in and I'm supposed to be looking for a radio station. I am taking my time, doing some exploring and really trying to enjoy it. While I'm playing though, all I can think about is wanting to play something else."

$240 Million and Counting

Joystiq.com reports that the Marketplace made $240 million from DLC since its release. $180 million of that profit came in within the last year. Joystiq.com also links to a full Marketplace report hosted by Gamasutra.com.
VERDICT: Follow the link, as they talk about more of the figures from DLC sales. It’s an interesting read and only proves just how much money can be made in videogames these days.
Don’t Hold Your Breath for GoldenEye

1Up.com carries an interesting story for any N64 GoldenEye fans (and I’m sure that’s almost everyone!) Apparently Microsoft worked for some time to attempt to get the title ported to an XBLA release. Unfortunately, the game is now stuck in “no man’s land,” according to Rare’s Nick Burton.
Both Microsoft and Nintendo are caught in a traffic of licensing and distribution rights. Due to the complexity of the issue, it’s 1Up.com’s opinion the game may never come to the Xbox 360.
VERDICT: There are few people who wouldn’t purchase a GoldenEye DLC release and it’s highly disappointing to hear we’ll never get chance to play it… until we bust out our old N64!
New Dashboard Update Does Nothing

By now many of you already download the new dashboard update and you may or may not be surprised to learn that it adds no new features whatsoever. Shacknews.com reports the download simply updates code inside your Xbox to make way for future updates.
VERDICT: Well… they say no news is good news! The new dashboard debuted at E3 releases this fall.
Taking a Page Out of Call of Duty

Shacknews.com reports that Bungie announced the production of Halo has “a lot to learn” from scripting events in Call of Duty 4. The developer said that while Halo has a lot of scripted events, players "don't experience it in quite the same way that we expected them to."
VERDICT: There’s nothing wrong with learning from a competitor as long as it makes your game better in the long run. A lot of good news has been heard out of Bungie lately, making everyone here at OXM excited for the next Halo game.
Fable II Release Date Announced

Despite knowing for a while now that Fable II would release in October, Microsoft never announced a more specific release date— until now! Actiontrip.com reports that the announced date for Fable II’s release is October 21 for North America and October 24 for Europe.
VERDICT: Unlike the first Fable, this release date is solid and there will be no delays. Mark your calendar!

No Goldeneye, no big deal. But what about a remake of Perfect Dark (N64 version) for Live Arcade? It's be great to play the game with good visuals and good framerate in single player, unlike the N64 version where you could have one or the other..

It's about time Bungie learns. The story was bland an unimaginative. They should be learning from pro story events from games like Half-Life 2, BioShock, Call of Duty 4, and Mass Effect. Halo 3 was a disappointment in the story department.

I like the idea of Bungie learning from COD4; as much as I LOVE the Halo franchise, there really is no denying it's been treading water for a while, now. H3 was a LOT of fun - but (other than the whole movie/screenshot-from-any-angle-you-can-think-of bit), it DID still manage to feel a little stale...

As far as Goldeneye goes, I'm sure MS/Rare could come to an amicable agreement with Activision (a la the XBLA release of TMNT via Ubisoft), as long as Nintendo agrees to give it up. Perhaps the NDS version of Viva Piñata is meant to be a peace offering to pave the way for XBLA/007 goodness?

I remember Goldeneye being one of the first games to use the "rumble pak". Man, I played the crap out of that game! It would be hard to get this to XBLA not only because it was once a Nintendo exclusive but also Activision currently holds the video game rights to the Bond franchise. It's a damn shame too, beacause a slight makeover, and 16-player deathmatches over Live would make this one a goldmine.

I'm playing my N64 with Goldeneye in it right now. It seems to grow roots because I never take 007 out of the slot. PLEASE COME TO XBLA!!!
