"Why don't I like Fallout 3? I just am not getting into it. I'm about 4 hours in and I'm supposed to be looking for a radio station. I am taking my time, doing some exploring and really trying to enjoy it. While I'm playing though, all I can think about is wanting to play something else."

Rock Band Download Low-Down: Week 38

WORDS BY: OXM Staff

Each week we’ll run out onto our website stage like roadies and review the latest Rock Band Downloadable Content. Check back every week! (And click here for all of our previous music DLC reviews.)

*NOTE: Each of the songs in the Crue Fest Pack costs 80 Microsoft Points ($1) or 240 Microsoft Points ($3) for the pack. The two System of a Down tracks are only available as singles for 160 Microsoft Points ($2).

Crüe Fest Pack 2

WHAT ROCKS: Not only are all three of these tunes just a buck each, but they're all a blast on all four parts! Though Mötley Crüe's "Face Down in the Dirt" isn't as fun as the album's title track, it nevertheless excels on drums and vocals. And while we admit we'd rather have Buckcherry's "Crazy Bitch" (only if it were uncensored though, which would likely never happen), "Rescue Me" is an excellent consolation prize. It's got a radio-friendly, safe, catchy chorus, but the bass and drums are stellar. Finally, Sixx:AM's "Life is Beautiful" features a fun and very tough bass (hammer-ons and pull-offs aplenty!) to go with great drums and vocals.
WHAT SUCKS: Nothing to complain about on this pack.
FINAL VERDICT: Don't tell Harmonix or, more importantly, the record labels, but these songs are fun enough that we'd have paid full price for them.

"B.Y.O.B." by System of a Down

WHAT ROCKS: Alternating between mellow (read: easy) and crazy (read: soul-breakingly hard), this schizophrenic song will test your mettle on guitar, drums, and bass. And who wouldn't have a great time singing the "LA LA LA LA LA LA LA" parts on vocals?
WHAT SUCKS: If you're not looking for a challenge, this song might not be for you.
FINAL VERDICT: We may never finish any of the parts solo, but we can't deny how much fun we'll have trying.

--

"Toxicity" by System of a Down

WHAT ROCKS: The opening guitar solo, followed by the opening drum riff. And pretty much everything else.
WHAT SUCKS: We have to wait for Rock Band 2 to play "Chop Suey."
FINAL VERDICT: Not as challenging as "B.Y.O.B.," but just as fun.

COMMENTS:

more system of a down.

I know, lyric censorship is complete bullshit!

Little late for me to respond, but This easily makes up for the prior weeks, pitty I could only afford one for now. Can't wait to try Life is Beautiful.

Best week since The Who pack. : ]

hello oxm. i know you deleted my spams, but.. did you have to delete my account? i could've been given some sort of warning. youre ever worse forum/message board keepers than bungie.net. if you reactivate my old account ill quit spamming. otherwise...

It doesn't matter if curse words are edited out. If you're playing any of the instruments, you should be too busy to be paying attention to the lyrics, and if you're singing, you can say whatever you want as long as you stay on pitch.

I am excited about rock band 2 but songs like down with the sickness by disturbed makes me feel uneasy because that song has a lot of curse words and if they edit those words the song wont work.

I love the SOAD songs. They are awesome. I still haven't beaten B.Y.O.B on Expert yet but I'm trying!

Finally! I've been waiting all week for this, but I would have been overwhelmed if B.Y.O.B. was $1. I would waste the last of my Microsoft Points before getting a new one by buying the worst screamo/best metal song by System of a Down ever. (Note to self: Listen to Toxicity in its entirty.)

My GamerTag is deltaXkila. I have too many friends on Xbox Live. I have no life.

Spams deleted, Bahama. No worries.

WTF are those below!
