"Why don't I like Fallout 3? I just am not getting into it. I'm about 4 hours in and I'm supposed to be looking for a radio station. I am taking my time, doing some exploring and really trying to enjoy it. While I'm playing though, all I can think about is wanting to play something else."

Hero Tolerance
WORDS BY: Dan Amrich
Gore and fatalities are out — capes and do-gooders are in. Can Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe keep two rabid fanbases happy?
THE FLASH IS KICKING SCORPION’S ASS.

Using his super speed, Wally West — or is it Barry Allen? — zooms past Mortal Kombat’s most popular brawler three times, leaving the goldclad ninja spinning like a top on an Outworld stone platform. A beat later, the Flash pummels Scorpion with a flurry of punches, leaving him shattered on the cracked earth. But it’s hard to keep a spirit of vengeance down, and Scorpion recovers from the thrashing with a quickness that only videogame characters possess. A teleport kick sends Flash reeling, only to set him up for Scorpion’s signature spear. It lodges in the Scarlet Speedster’s chest, leaving him helpless as Scorpion reels him in for a punishing uppercut — one that sends Flash crashing through a wall of solid rock, flailing and falling to a mesa several hundred feet below.
You gotta be kidding. About everything.
What the hell are these two doing in the same arena? Who decided that Mortal Kombat fighters should battle the legends of the DC Comics universe? At what point did this even seem like a good idea, let alone a logical one? What kind of sick marketing trick is this?

“It’s one of those concepts that’s like, ‘…No. How…? No…,’” admits Jimmy Palmiotti, veteran comic scribe and, along with Justin Gray, one of the DC Comics writers tasked with making the Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe crossover make sense. “Believe me, it went through everybody’s head. So we sat in a room and said ‘All right, how would it work?’ to the point where everyone was happy. Because really, you can’t leave the room until everyone’s happy. We found that neutral ground that made this game work — and it really does work.”
MATTERS OF LIFE AND DEATH

If it helps, Midway was just as nervous about this pairing as the fans were. “There was anxiety from the beginning on a number of levels,” admits Ed Boon, the series’ co-creator. “No. 1 is the Mortal Kombat players — we have a loyal, vocal group of people, and we were fully expecting some amount of reaction-slash-backlash. I don’t think we would have been realistic going into it not expecting that.”

Could I just point out that Sonya Blade is taking a serious ass beating in every available screenshot she's in? Jus' sayin'.
